Why Can I Build High-Quality Hydraulic Tools While Many Chinese Factories Only Produce Low-Price, Low-Quality Products?
This is a question I often get from customers. Today I‘ll explain it systematically.
1. Different Product and Brand Positioning
From day one, our positioning has never been about making products that “just work.” Jügum is positioned as a professional-grade hydraulic tool manufacturer, serving industries with extremely high reliability requirements—power construction, railway, and new energy. This means we cannot compromise on materials or craftsmanship.
Many Chinese factories, by contrast, position themselves as “as cheap as possible.” Their target customers are buyers who use the tool occasionally and are extremely price-sensitive. Different positioning leads to different outcomes.
2. How We Make Our Products Better
We don’t simply “assemble” tools. We continuously optimize designs and machining processes.
– Optimize hydraulic system design to improve pressure stability and sealing reliability
– Optimize cylinder and head structure for greater strength and durability
– Optimize heat treatment for blades and dies to extend service life
– Optimize assembly processes to ensure consistent crimping or cutting results every time
Each of these optimizations requires investment in time, equipment, and engineers. Many factories, however, take the opposite approach: make it as cheap as possible, and cut every step you can.
3. From a Technical and Product Perspective, Hydraulic Tools Are a System
Hydraulic tools are not simple mechanical products. They are high-pressure hydraulic systems. Any small mistake in design or machining can cause the entire system to fail:
– Improper seal material selection → oil leaks, insufficient pressure
– Insufficient cylinder machining precision → unstable pressure
– Substandard head material or heat treatment → head fracture
– Insufficient blade hardness → blade damage
The uniqueness of hydraulic tools is that failure often means not “poor performance,” but “unusable,” or even “dangerous.” Making a good hydraulic tool requires systematic engineering capability, not just simple machining.
4. What Customers Ultimately Need Is Value, Not Price
Customers are not buying a tool. They are buying the problems the tool solves—finishing projects on time, avoiding safety incidents, and preventing downtime and rework caused by tool failure.
A low-priced tool may work fine the first time. But after several uses, or several hundred, pressure drops, seals leak, and heads fracture—leading to project delays, rework, and even safety accidents. These hidden costs far exceed the small savings from the initial purchase price.
5. Listening to the Voice of the Customer
We place great importance on feedback from frontline users. Our engineers carefully and patiently listen to the problems users encounter in real applications, then return to design and process improvements to continuously optimize our tools.
Many factories don‘t do this because they don’t deal directly with end users and don‘t care whether the tool works well. They only care about whether the shipment was sold.
Summary
We can make good products not because of any secret, but because:
– Different positioning: We build professional-grade, not low-price-grade
– Different investment: We continuously optimize design and processes, not cut costs wherever possible
– Different philosophy: We focus on customer value, not just purchase price
– Different capability: We understand hydraulic tools as a system and have systematic engineering capability
– Different attitude: We listen seriously to customer feedback and continuously improve
Low-price, low-quality products will always have a market, but that market is not ours. We serve professional customers who truly need reliable tools and truly understand the cost of ownership.
Choose quality. Choose reliability. Choose Jügum.
